LockMaster

LockMaster is a Windows application that protects VBA passwords in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. It guards Excel and Word VBA projects against malicious users and recovery tools.

Invalidate passwords

When you use LockMaster…

  • Existing password data is removed and becomes invalid
  • The password confirmation dialog no longer appears

Even if a password leaks, you can effectively prevent damage.
You also avoid the fatal case where other files encrypted with the same password are compromised.

Do not allow password entry

Normally, opening the VBA editor prompts for the VBA password.
Once that dialog appears, a leaked password will always allow removal. Even if the password is unknown, there is a non-zero chance someone could guess it correctly.

With LockMaster, a warning dialog appears instead of the password prompt when the VBA editor starts.
By making password entry impossible, it protects important program code.

Block recovery tools

It prevents VBA passwords from being recovered by tools designed to remove them. (We have confirmed that PasswordMaster and several other tools cannot remove LockMaster-protected projects.)

However, because VBA code remains embedded in the file, complete concealment from every tool is practically impossible. Please understand that tools may exist that can remove LockMaster protection depending on analysis methods.
